Who I Am
My work and purpose
I am a college professor who truly loves teaching. My students know me for being engaging, always available, and for the playlists I create for every class. I also serve on three nonprofit boards and volunteer whenever I can, because giving back and supporting my community is an important part of my life.
My family and community
I feel lucky to have so many people in my life, from my family and especially my three nieces who bring me so much joy, to my fiancé Parker, to extended family, friends old and new, my work community, and the many connections that come from life in New York City. I really enjoy showing up for people, whether that means helping my mom as she gets older, supporting a friend or even a stranger, or being involved with causes I care about. Life can get busy, but I value staying connected, and if you know me, used to know me, or found your way here unexpectedly, I would love to connect over coffee, a meal, or another shared activity.
My passions and hobbies
Outside of teaching and volunteering on Boards of non-profits, music is a big part of my life and how I connect with people. I love listening to it, creating playlists, playing the cello with my community orchestra, and occasionally writing music.
I also love to travel and have visited more than seventy countries so far, with hopes of many more. I am vegetarian, guided by a respect for animals and a belief in compassion, and I enjoy discovering new restaurants with friends. I also love the theater and, from time to time, slipping in a corny joke with a pop reference.
Rising above challenges
I have faced difficult moments in life, including losing my dad at a young age. Those experiences taught me how to persevere and rise above hardship with hope and purpose. I have always found a way forward.
Where I Hope to Be With Your Help
Facing this challenge
This is the one challenge I cannot overcome on my own. Asking for help does not come easily to me, and reaching this point has been very hard. But I am here because I want the chance to live fully again.
A message from me
If you are open to learning more or getting tested, your kindness could give me a second chance at life. I would carry that gratitude forever.
My hopes for the future
A successful kidney transplant would allow me to continue teaching, traveling, making music, and supporting the communities and people I care about. It would give me more years with my nieces, continue to take care of my mom as she ages and the chance to build a joyful life with Parker. It would allow me to continue giving back to the world in the ways that matter deeply to me.
